Hurricane Beryl 2024 Makes Landfall in Mexico as Category 2 Storm

Category 3 Hurricane Beryl Loses Power After Striking Cayman Islands

Sustained Wind Speeds Drop to 125 mph, Category 4 Status Downgraded

**Bridgetown, Barbados** - Major Hurricane Beryl has weakened to a Category 2 storm after making landfall in the Cayman Islands, according to the latest updates from the National Hurricane Center (NHC). The storm, which was previously a Category 4 hurricane, had maximum winds of 125 mph as of 2 am local time.

Beryl passed over Grand Cayman early Thursday morning, bringing heavy rain and strong winds to the island. No major damage or injuries have been reported so far, but officials are urging residents to remain vigilant as the storm continues to move towards Mexico.

The NHC has downgraded Beryl's status to a Category 3 hurricane and predicts that the storm will continue to weaken as it approaches the Mexican coast. The center of the storm is expected to reach the Yucatan Peninsula by Friday morning.

Residents in Mexico are being warned to prepare for heavy rainfall and possible flooding as Beryl makes its way towards the mainland. The storm is also expected to bring strong winds and storm surge to coastal areas.
